明末大儒高攀龍(忠憲)恪守「半日靜坐,半日讀書」的古訓,
在他的大作《靜坐法》(卷三)中說:「靜坐之法,不用一毫安排,
只平平常常,默然靜去。此"平常"二字,不可容易看過,即性體也。
以其清靜,不容一物,故謂之"平常"。
喜怒哀樂未發如此,乃天理之自然,須在人各各自自體帖出,方是自得。
靜中妄念,強除不得,真體即顯,妄念自洎;
昏氣亦強除不得,妄念既淨,昏氣自清,只體認本性原本本色,還他湛然而已。
大抵著一毫意不得,著一毫見不得,才添一念,便失本色。
由靜而動,亦只平平常常,湛然動去,靜時與動時一色,動時與靜時一色,
所以一色者,只是一個平常也,故曰無動無靜,
學者不過借靜坐中認此無動無靜之體云爾。
靜中得力,方是動中真得力;動中得力,方是靜中真得瀝瀝。
所謂敬者此也,所謂仁者此也,所謂誠者此也,是復性之道也。」
