"LET GO BEFORE ENTERING"

During last summers Irureta has gone to the pre-season stage at the small
village of Vilalba with many players; indeed, too many to be able to work in a
comfortable way. It seems this time things won't be different. With just one
week left to start a new season, the roster is still too broad to satisfy
Irureta's wishes of having 23 players with him as 33 players belong to
Deportivo nowadays.

It should be easy for Dani Mallo, Jaime and Pandiani to find a new team as they
have received different offers. Tenerife, Levante, Murcia and Valladolid have
shown their interest in the Galician goalkeeper Dani mallo. Jaime will probably
return to Germany next season as Hannover 96 (the club where he was on loan
last season), Stuttgart and Karlsruhe want him. Pandiani has been related to
many clubs this summer, but a transfer to Mallorca is the most likely scenario.

Jesus and Abreu already know where they are going to play. The Spanish
midfielder will complete his second season on loan at Zaragoza and the
Uruguayan forward will play for America de Mexico. Djalminha, after a so-so
season in Austria, wants to come back but Irureta prefers to add more youth to
the team. He has only received an offer from Guarani, but he could find his
place at Porto if they sell Deco.

Five of the players with fewer options to stay haven't received any offer yet.
Djorovic has still a good reputation but his huge wage makes it almost
impossible to sell him. Fernando could be transferred as his contract ends at
2004. Jose Manuel, Changui and Ivan Perez could find themselves without a team
to play for a second season in a row.

Players as Makaay, Tristan, Juanmi amd Sergio have received several offers as
well, but they are among Irureta's favourites. This means that the club is
determined to keep them. Only a good offer for one of the forwards could
change this.

There are around seven teams after central defender Pablo Amo, who has not
played a single minute last season in the Liga or the Champion League. But the
club thinks he could be part of the future of the team. Probably he will be at
Deportivo next season, but spending a season on loan is also possible.
