KIM Clijsters answers the phone in a whisper. She apologises and explains
she's sitting at a desk at her home in Bree, Belgium and is speaking in
hushed tones because her three-year-old daughter Jada is sleeping in the
next room.

It's obvious things have changed for the two-time US Open champion since she
last came to Sydney in 2007.

All she had to worry about in her previous visits were a few bags and her
weight in racquets. This time husband Bryan Lynch, Jada, a full-time
nanny-nurse and a special baby food cooker the family never leaves home
without will make up her entourage.

But Clijsters hasn't quite moved on from her brief love affair with
Australia, born during her relationship with former fiance Lleyton Hewitt.

There is still a bit of the starry-eyed teenager Australia fell in love with
inside the 27-year-old comeback queen.

There are no links left between Clijsters and Australia, but the world No. 3
is still happy to be called "Aussie Kim" - just as long as her Aussie fans
realise she isn't actually Australian.

對這位三座美網冠軍選手來說，自從她2007年造訪雪梨後，有一些事情明顯改變了。

之前來此地參賽，她只需要看照幾個行李包，還有注意她球拍的重量。

而這回她的先生Bryan Lynch、女兒Jada、全職保母兼護士、寶寶食品料理廚師，
整個家庭成員都會隨她一同來訪。

但Kim還沒真正忘掉她與澳大利亞有段短暫的情緣，源自於她與Hewitt曾有過婚約。

有些愛幻想的澳洲青少年仍對27歲的復出前球后深深著迷，儘管她與澳洲已無實質上
的關連，但這位世界第三選手還是很開心大家叫她"Aussie Kim"，就算她的澳洲球迷
知道她並非真的澳大利亞人也一樣。


She recently bought a second home in New Jersey to spend more time with her
retired professional basketball-playing husband's family in the US.

So why does she still consider Australia to be her home away from her home
away from home?

"I still feel that connection," Clijsters said.

"The people were always very warm and welcoming. I have that history with
Lleyton there. I spent a lot of my private time there.

"I'm a lot more mature now. It's nice to have that connection, though."

Kim最近才在新澤西州買了第二棟房子，為了有更多的時間與先生那邊的親戚共度時光。

那為什麼她仍視遠在天邊的澳大利亞為家？

她說："我仍覺得我與此地有些關係，這裡的人們個性溫暖而且好客。我和Hewitt交往過

She will be one of the headline acts at the Medibank International at Sydney
Olympic Park Tennis Centre from January 9-15 after she won the event in 2007.

It's a vastly different Clijsters to the one Sydney first saw in 2001.

She is now an 11-season veteran on the WTA tour, a three-time grand slam
champion and the mother of a growing daughter, who has already picked up a
racquet.

She also gave the game away for nearly two years from 2007 and 2009, retiring
at the age of 24 because of injuries.

At just 27 she is still considered one of the veterans in the women's game.

The reason she is so excited to come back to Sydney is the same reason she
first decided she loved Australia. We simply love sport like nowhere else on
the planet.

"I'm excited to be going back to that kind of atmosphere," she said.

"The public are so sports-minded. I remember Brisbane last year I couldn't
sleep at 5.30am so I said let's go running and there was already people
running everywhere."

The former world No. 1 is hoping to get some time off to show her family
around - husband and daughter have never been to Sydney.

"Jada still thinks Australia is all kangaroos and koalas," she said. "I know
there's a very good zoo there and we'll head to the beach, but I don't know
all the good family-orientated places."


雖然她才27歲，但在女子網壇已被視為老將之一。

她之所以樂意回來雪梨參賽，跟她喜歡上澳大利亞的理由一樣，因澳洲人對運動的熱情。

"我很開心能回來享受這樣的氣氛，這裡的人們很愛運動，我記得去年我來布里斯本參賽
，但在凌晨5:30時我一直睡不著，於是我打算去跑步，結果發現晨跑的人非常多。"

前球后也希望利用空閒時間，帶她的家人到雪梨四處走走，她先生和女兒從未來過此地。

"Jada仍以為澳大利亞都是袋鼠和無尾熊，我知道這裡有非常棒的動物園，我們也打算去
海邊走走，但我不知道所有適合家庭玩樂的景點。"
