Jason Kidd will be somewhere warm this weekend, but it won't be Houston.

Kidd, who will turn 33 next month, is still one of the best point guards in
the NBA and still has no equal in his court vision. There are many players
— teammates and opponents — who truly believe he hasn't lost a single,
proverbial step.

But Kidd's failure to get voted in as a reserve by Eastern Conference coaches
for a second straight year (he missed the first 16 games last season in
recovery from knee surgery) either tells something different or is an
indication that his style of play is passe.

Even NBA commissioner David Stern, when needing to choose a replacement for

team already loaded with scorers.

is made up."

The changing of the (point) guard in the NBA seems to have an affect on
Kidd's cache. Other than Phoenix's Steve Nash, last year's MVP, none of the
All-Star guards in either conference are the playmaker that Kidd is. And
even though Nash isn't as pure of a point guard, 68 percent of the league's
general managers picked him as the best point guard in the league in a
preseason survey.
