From Chelsea's side on Kounde, they've done everything. The deal is on
hold (no green light) due to Sevilla and Kounde. Kounde is waiting for
Barca who are preparing to send an official bid.

Queens Park Rangers and Preston are among the clubs interested in signing
Chelsea full-back Dujon Sterling on a season-long loan. Thomas Tuchel
regards the 22-year-old highly but does not have space for him in the
first-team squad for the coming season. Sterling has just one year left on
his current contract, but Chelsea hold a contract clause to extend the
deal by another year.

Barcelona have pleaded for patience from Sevilla's Jules Kounde, as they
attempt to hijack his move to Chelsea. While the London club have agreed a
￡50m-plus fee with Sevilla and have the principles of a deal done,
Barcelona have not yet made a formal bid, due to the need now to sell
players.

Until that situation is resolved, or Barca make other sales, they are
unlikely to press forward with Kounde. They have consequently asked the
23-year-old for more time, in another situation that has seen the Catalan
club hold up the market. Barcelona's financial offer to Sevilla would also
be worth less as an overall package.

Milan Skriniar is a player CFC have expressed interest in before. They
originally explored him as part of a possible swap deal when discussing
Romelu Lukaku. Inter made it clear they were only open to a straight-cash
deal. Challenging for Chelsea since Inter asking for €65-70m.

PSG have personal terms agreed with Skriniar, who is still keen on a move
to Paris. But they believe asking price is too high. Inter would love
Skriniar to sign a contract extension but are open to a sale for the right
price, especially now Alessandro Bastoni will stay.

Spurs have looked at both Bastoni and Skriniar before. Bastoni has
recently said, "I've never had the slightest doubt about leaving Inter.
Why go anywhere else?" Skriniar more of a long-standing Spurs target.
Nothing advanced at this point. Outgoings the priority for Spurs.

Chelsea face a nervous wait over their move for Sevilla defender Jules
Kounde after Barcelona attempted to hijack their approach. The Blues have
alternative defensive targets in mind should they lose out to Barcelona
for Kounde but they are all imperfect options.

They can do battle for Inter's Milan Skriniar but would have to take on
one of the world's richest clubs in Paris Saint-Germain. They also want
Presnel Kimpembe but he is reluctant to leave PSG himself. Meanwhile, RB
Leipzig's Josko Gvardiol is another option but the Bundesliga side do not
want to sell him.

Barcelona are now getting closer to Jules Kounde. Positive contacts also
in the morning, personal terms are fully agreed with Kounde - working on
final bid. Chelsea are tired of waiting for the green light - ready to
explore other options if it doesn't arrive soon.

The Catalan club, who have already beaten Chelsea to the signing of the
Brazil winger Raphinha, have continued to tell Kounde to wait for them to
submit their opening offer. It is believed they could end up paying a
lower fee than Chelsea.

It is understood that Chelsea, who have pursued the centre-back since last
summer, are close to giving up and could walk away from negotiations with
Sevilla if there is no breakthrough soon.

Another complication is Thomas Tuchel is not entirely convinced about
signing Kounde. There are doubts over whether the 5ft 10in defender is
tall enough to succeed in the Premier League.

There has been little progress in talks with Paris Saint-Germain over the
France defender Presnel Kimpembe. RB Leipzig's Josko Gvardiol and
Internazionale's Milan Skriniar are other defensive targets.
