1、入水(Entry):
入水前,肩膀必須高於水面(避免水阻),掌心朝外,以大拇指入水;
入水後,手掌翻正,手心朝向池底,此時肩膀要立即貼近臉頰(如此水阻最小),肩膀、手肘與手掌成一直線,此直線與身體中軸線平行。
2、高肘抱水(Elbow Flexion):
肩膀到手肘(上臂)不動,手掌向下向後直接划到手肘下方(屈臂抱水)。此時並非划手的主要推進期,而是全力推水的「準備期」,所以不應太用力。
3、內收推水(Adduction):
此時是划手階段中最主要的「推進/加速期」。把前臂和手掌當成槳。壓肩,同時轉肩,利用身體滾轉來內收手臂,也就是將高肘抱水時所搜集的水向肚臍下方推去。
4、釋放推水(Release):
就像把球往後丟一樣,將你前面所抱/推的水往後釋出,手掌必須推到髖部,手肘打直才算完成,最後以小指頭先出水。很重要的是:邊做釋放推水時,肩膀就要同時上提,這樣身體的滾轉才會連貫,但又要同時避免手肘尚未打直就提出水面。
5、恢復:
手掌、手肘與手臂全部放鬆,只用肩膀出力把手往身體前方帶,當手掌到達肩膀時(此時也為手肘在划水過程中的最高點),就準備再次入水。
