I took one look at the Liverpool teamsheet last night, spotted
Peter Crouch’s name on it, and immediately thought: “Yeah,
I like it.” Rafael Benítez was giving it a go with the big
man and it was a really brave decision. Crouch and Fernando
Torres together up front. Not bad, Rafa.

一看到先發名單上有高佬的名字，我真是對拉法的Guts感動不已。後來
我才知道，把高佬放在板凳上這個習慣，是拉法最近30場才加進來的。
這個局佈了這麼久，就是要噱到溫格你這隻老狐狸！偉哉！拉法！

But then I had another glance at the line-up, and wondered: “
No Ryan Babel. What’s going on here?” If you’ve got Crouch
leading the line, then you’ve got to provide him with
service from the flanks. Give him the aerial ammunition and
he will deliver.

可是還有一點讓王組長百思不得其解的是，為什麼貝寶沒有先發？高佬
一根細細的放中間，兩側必須要有支撐，否則空有空中優勢卻沒有彈藥
補給也沒用不是嗎？ 貝寶雖然不會傳中，但是至少擺在那裡也可以嚇唬
嚇唬人嘛！

And yet there were no traditional wide men to provide that
service. Steven Gerrard, who started on the left, does many
things but he doesn’t have the pace to get past his full
back and swing in crosses. Dirk Kuyt, on the right, is an
out-and-out striker, not a winger, and provides only a
workmanlike presence near the touchline.

但是我們看到的是這個陣型確實沒有翅膀，也就是說，利物浦有名的
以鶴翼之陣做防守死龜反擊這樣的打法今天是看不到了。包子隊長看
似踢左路，但是我們知道他再多才多藝，對上邊後衛專心防守也是沒
輒；得靠就更不用說了，工作馬的稱號解釋了一切。

Playing Crouch was the right decision by Benítez because
Arsenal struggle in the air at the back. It is where they are
at their most vulnerable. Yet without wingers to aid and abet
Crouch, the bold move was almost counter-productive, in the
opening stages at least.

阿森糯的罩門一向是在後庭，所以拿出高佬這根竹竿往他們後面狂桶
是正確的做法。但是沒有先在邊緣做適當的潤滑，這樣子的做法只會
傷到自己！就算你再威，至少一開始一定也不會那麼順利。

That’s when Arsenal buzzed, taking the lead through Abou
Diaby. They were superb, slicing through the Liverpool
rearguard like butter, but once Liverpool had equalised, when
Sami Hyypia nodded home, and then gone in front from Torres’
s 29th goal of the season, Arsenal as good as crumbled. Nine
times out of ten, when you ask Arsenal questions, they come
up short. They do not, yet, have the mental capacity
consistently to dig deep.

也難怪阿森糯一開始會唉唉叫，叫的這麼大聲了。反倒是利物浦的後
門像抹了奶油一般的滑不溜丟，阿森糯咨意的探索游移，終於迪阿比
為阿森糯開了第一砲。不過利物浦並沒有因此就軟腳，先是海皮亞大
叔一頭衝進對方的最後防線，接著拖蕾絲又立刻撲上去再來一發，這
下子阿森糯已經無力抵抗，只能任利物浦欺凌了。當他們開始想要反
攻，十次有九次無法對準。年輕人畢竟是年輕人，這檔事光靠蠻力是
不夠的！

Oh, and by the way, who rose highest to provide the headed
flick for Torres to score? Crouch, of course. Told you. And
bravo Rafa!

喔，你知道拖蕾絲那一發是誰幫忙推屁股的？高佬！我早就知道了，
偉哉拉法！

Arsenal could have won on away goals when Emmanuel Adebayor
equalised, and could have won outright had Arsène Wenger
been more adventurous. Arsenal are at their best when surging
forward, not when absorbing pressure or playing for time. As
it was, a penalty from Gerrard and a fourth goal from Babel
settled it in a dramatic finale.

其實阿森糯一直都有希望可以利用客場進球取勝的，尤其是在阿德巴優
把利物浦扳平之後。如果溫伯伯當時再衝一點，也許就可以把利物浦
整個翻過來弄死，因為阿森糯的瘋狂前進突刺無人能敵，但是在被壓和
持久性上面就不是那麼強了。果然天不從人願，包子的點球和貝寶的補
刀，讓這場妖精打架的鬧劇劃上了句點。

Wenger claimed that the penalty, when Kolo Touré felled
Babel, was dodgy and that Arsenal should have had a penalty
in the first leg when Kuyt appeared to grab Alexander Hleb.
He may or may not have a point, I’m not convinced either
way.

溫撥撥說，這是一場不公不義的比賽。我對這個議題沒有comment，
因為當牆頭草才是生存之道。來，里宏哩公跨賣！

Yet two contentious decisions did not decide this tie. Over
the two matches, and especially last night, it was Liverpool
’s desire, their hunger, their passion, that made the
difference. They wanted it more and, in the cold light of
day, Wenger will need to address that. I’m sure he will.

不管怎麼樣，那兩個判決並不是決定輸贏的關鍵，總的來說不是，
昨天那一場更不是。利物浦的慾望、獸性、饑渴、情熱、才是這兩
個人的最大的差異！他們很想要、要了還要、官人我要，才是克服
對方冷感的主要原因。溫撥撥應該檢討的是這一點，我也相信他會
做到。
