Sikma may become assistant for Rockets

A month ago, Hakeem Olajuwon worked with Yao Ming on a move Olajuwon called
"the Jack Sikma." Yao could soon be learning from the originator.

Sikma is close to becoming the second member of Rick Adelman's Rockets
coaching staff, an NBA official said Tuesday. Sikma would join Elston Turner,
who said last week he would join Adelman with the Rockets.

Sikma, 51, a former SuperSonics All-Star, has been coaching with Seattle
since the 2003-04 season and became available after former head coach Bob
Hill was fired.

Sikma is the Sonics' all-time leader in rebounds and free throws.

Former Rockets player Mario Elie is scheduled to interview with Adelman this
week.

Rockets assistant Steve Clifford could be the first of Jeff Van Gundy's
assistants to move. He seems close to joining Stan Van Gundy in Orlando.

Rockets officials would not comment on talks with assistant coaches.
