Perhaps the most memorable image of Robert Pires in an Arsenal shirt was
taken on the final day of the 2001/02 campaign.

對老皮來說，當他還穿著槍手服的時候，當中最值得壞念的一刻莫過於01-02賽季的
最後一天。

The Frenchman had been recently crowned as Footballer of the Year after a
stellar campaign for the Gunners. However, he missed the final two months of
the season after suffering knee ligament damage in an FA Cup tie against
Newcastle at Highbury.

當年球隊聯賽奪冠之後，他也同時獲選了英超年度最佳球員。但是之後他因膝蓋韌帶傷
勢缺席了最後兩個月，同時也缺席了足總盃對紐卡斯爾的決賽。

When Pires, aided by crutches, hobbled up to the podium to receive his
Premier League winner's medal and lift the trophy, the rest of the first-team
squad knelt down in homage to their team-mate.

當時老皮還杵著柺杖，他緩慢的行走至頒獎台接受英超冠軍的獎章後，隨後也舉起了

Wenger was reminded of that magical moment as he prepared to face Pires and
Villarreal in the Champions League on Tuesday night.

"That picture tells you more than any speech of mine," said the Arsenal
manager.

"I believe that before he got his first cruciate [injury], he was the best
player in the world in that position. You could just give him the ball and he
would do the rest."
