Hilario left to wait as Mourinho mulls over new Chelsea deal for veteran
keeper

Jose Mourinho will decide whether to keep back-up keeper Henrique Hilario
at Chelsea for another season this week.

Hilario, who has made just a handful of appearances since joining the Blues
in 2006, has been kept waiting all summer. He was expected to leave
Stamford Bridge at the end of last season, but there is a possibility he
could yet stay for another year.


Although Chelsea have signed Mark Schwarzer from Fulham on a free
transfer, Hilario is a popular member of the Chelsea squad. He is not on
the Chelsea tour of the Far East, but he has been told a decision on his
future is imminent.


Mourinho originally signed him from Nacional seven years ago during his
first spell in charge of Chelsea. The Chelsea chief, who has taken four
keepers excluding Hilario on the pre-season tour, will make a decision on
his future this week.


Hilario, 37, has made just 38 starts for the club after arriving as Petr
Cech's understudy.


Mourinho has taken Cech and Schwarzer, plus junior keeper Jamal Blackman
and Sam Walker to Bangkok for their pre-season training. Mourinho wants to
assess the young keepers before deciding whether to keep Hilario for
another season for his experience.

There is also the possibility that Hilario could work with the young
keepers to help them bridge the gap between the Under 21 development squad
and the first team.

Hilario has been signing yearly extensions to his contracts at Chelsea in
recent years and he was expected to leave in the summer. But Chelsea have
kept him waiting while they try to sign English keepers to be part of
their 25-man squad in the Barclays Premier League.


They have already failed in a bid to sign Scott Carson, who has since
signed for Wigan, and Norwich keeper John Ruddy.

Chelsea's Josh McEachran keen to talk to Jose Mourinho over his future

Chelsea midfielder Josh McEachran says he is to speak to Jose Mourinho
about whether he will spend more time away on loan.


... "I'm a Chelsea player and my dream as a kid was to play for Chelsea,
so I want to play for them this season," McEachran told Sky Sports News.


"But if the boss wants me to go out on loan I'll have to listen to him and
go out. It's down to him. He said he would speak to me while we were in
Asia so I'll wait for then.


"Hopefully it would be to a Premier League team, but I wouldn't mind going
to a Championship team either."
