Chelsea still looking to strengthen squad, says Ron Gourlay
Last Updated: August 29, 2013 10:51pm
Chelsea chief executive Ron Gourlay has admitted there could be more
movement in and out of the club before Monday's transfer deadline.
.... Speaking about Eto'o after the draw for the group stage of the
Champions League had been made in Monaco, Gourlay told Sky Sports News:
"It's a very good signing for the club.
"We have always said we are always looking to strengthen, but it's all
about the right players being available at the right time. Samuel was
available and I think he just adds some experience to the players we
already have around us."
Gourlay would not comment on whether the deal for Eto'o meant that Wayne
Rooney would definitely not now be signed from Manchester United, but
reiterated that there might be an addition or two before the window
closes.
.... Asked about further signings, he said: "We are always looking to
strengthen the team and there could be one, maybe two, but we are looking
at a couple maybe going out on loan to continue their development as we
have a fairly big squad.
"I would expect maybe a little bit of activity in the next couple of days
before the window closes, but the coach is very happy with the squad that
he has at this present time, so if this is the squad we continue with for
the rest of the season then it will be all good."
--
"We believe the same thing."
"Maybe there is hope."
