Many of Chelsea's stars of the future are out on-loan at clubs both
domestically and throughout Europe. Here, we look at how they have been
getting on.
Left-back Ben Gordon (main picture) has put his name in the history books,
after he won the Scottish League Cup with Kilmarnock against Celtic. The
21-year-old, in his second spell with the Scottish club, played all 90
minutes on a historic day at Hampden Park.
Having had a short spell with Peterborough earlier this season, Gordon has
become a regular at Rugby Park. The opportunity to gain first-team
football will prove beneficial with regards to his long-term development,
and trophies will only boost his confidence. So far he has played 12 times
during his stay with Kilmarnock.
Thibaut Courtois has firmly established himself as first-choice keeper at
Atletico Madrid, having made 35 appearances already this season. Despite
Los Colchoneros's disappointing league position of ninth in La Liga, he
has become a fans' favourite in the Spanish capital thanks to a string of
fine performances.
The 19-year-old goalkeeper has played a decisive role in getting them into
the quarter-finals of the Europa League, including a stunning display
against Besiktas in the last round.
Defender Jeffrey Bruma has cemented a first-team place at Hamburg after a
tricky start to his two-year loan deal. Despite their bad form, having
lost four of the last five games, Bruma has become a crucial player for
the German side in their fight to avoid relegation from the Bundesliga.
The 20-year-old started their crunch match with fellow strugglers Freiburg
on Saturday but despite another positive performance, Hamburg lost 3-1.
Former Chelsea sporting director Frank Arnesen, who now works in the same
capacity at the German side, has been full of praise for the Dutchman.
After his loan transfer to Swansea City on deadline day, Josh McEachran
has made four appearances in total for the Swans.
The 19-year-old midfielder made his last at the end of February against
Stoke, when he came off the bench with 20 minutes to go. He was an unused
sub in Swansea's impressive victory at Fulham this weekend.
In France, Gael Kakuta is beginning to establish himself in the Dijon
team. The tricky playmaker has made six appearances, with an impressive
return of four goals. The last of these came at the weekend as Dijon
secured a notable 2-1 win at Marseille. Kakuta started the match and
rounded off a great performance with the winning goal in the 79th minute.

Gael Kakuta
Kevin De Bruyne, our latest acquisition, who was loaned back to Genk for
the remainder of the season continues to be one of the Belgian giants'
most influential players.
The tricky winger played the full 90 minutes in Genk's narrow loss away to
Westerlo at the weekend.
Goalkeepers Sam Walker and Rhys Taylor are with Yeovil Town and Rotherham
respectively.
Twenty-year-old Walker has nailed down a regular place in Gary Johnson's
Yeovil team, making an impressive 11 appearances since his January loan
move. Walker, who had previously worked with Johnson at Northampton Town,
joined when they were languishing in 18th place. However his signing has
coincided with the Glovers' best run of the season. They have won four out
of the last five games, propelling them into 12th position in League One.
Similarly 21-year-old Taylor has recorded 13 starts for Rotherham. Before
their last two defeats against Oxford United and Torquay United, the
Millers had picked up 10 points from their previous six games. They now
sit in mid-table ready to make a late play-off push in League Two.
Blues trio Patrick van Aanholt, Tomas Kalas and Ulises Davila are all on
loan at Vitesse Arnhem in the Dutch Eredivisie. Vitesse currently lie in
seventh, a huge improvement on last year's final position of 18th.
Mexican Davila has only appeared twice in the first team, but has had a
good spell in the reserves, starting for the last five matches.
Van Aanholt, the 21-year-old Dutch left-back, has played six games since
his January move, including Friday's 2-0 win at Heracles and 21-year-old
defender Kalas has become a regular, having started 21 games this season.
Milan Lalkovic who is on-loan at Den Haag is yet to start for his new
side, but has made two substitute appearances, while Matej Delac, another
of Chelsea's young keepers currently on loan at Czech side Dynamo Ceske
Budejovice, has not yet started a game in the first team.
Away from the youngsters, Yossi Benayoun has been used sparingly by
Arsenal manger Arsene Wenger. Benayoun did start their crucial Premier
League matches against Liverpool and Tottenham but has not featured since.
The Israeli has made nine starts.
