Steve Nash has two Most Valuable Player trophies but his latest award may mean
just as much.

Nash was selected by the Professional Basketball Writers Association as this
year's recipient of the J. Walter Kennedy Citizenship Award, given annually to
a player displaying outstanding community work.

His hands-on work with the Steve Nash Foundation helped him to become the only
Suns player to win the award besides Kevin Johnson in 1991.

"I imagine this kind of award holds just as much value for him as any athletic
achievement just because he thinks everyone should be a citizen of the world,"
his foundation's executive director, Jenny Miller, said. "I don't think people

out there who does as much. It's not just his name on the foundation. It's his
heart. It's where his real passion lies."

cardiology ward in Paraguay. Nash paid for the other half to make cardiac
surgery available to kids there for the first time.

education resources. Nash financially sustained a youth basketball league when
the Grizzlies left Vancouver, and now it has gone nationwide.

Suns see Brooks

The Suns have liked some point guard draft prospects whose size allows
flexibility to share the backcourt with Nash. Seniors Aaron Brooks of Oregon, a
first-round candidate, and Bobby Brown of Cal State Fullerton, a second-round
prospect, don't offer that but received a serious look Tuesday.
