Hedrick, 26, latched on quickly with the Red Sox after the Giants last week
set him free. Though he hasn’t pitched above Double-A (and the Giants used
him as more of a multi-inning reliever than a closer), Hedrick compiled a
1.77 ERA in his two seasons with Connecticut, striking out 146 (9.6 per
nine), walking 58 (3.8) and giving up just eight home runs (0.5) in 137
innings.
