New Jersey Nets owner Bruce Ratner, admitting he made a mistake by letting
Kenyon Martin leave, wants to do everything in his financial power to ensure
Vince Carter remains with the club.
"The first thing is intent – the intent is we want to sign Vince," said
Ratner. "When I came on I don't think I understood it well enough to have the
intent. The second thing is we started to have some initial discussions."
Ratner said if signing Carter meant the Nets would go over the luxury tax, he
was okay with that. He fully expects both Carter and Jason Kidd to be Nets
next season.
