CECH TOPS POLL TO ENTER RECORD BOOKS

Chelsea goalkeeper Petr Cech has been named Footballer of the Year in the
Czech Republic for the fifth time in his career.


The 29-year-old shot stopper, who has been capped 88 times by his national
side, previously won the award in 2005, 2008, 2009 and 2010, and beat off
stiff competition from both Petr Jiracek of Wolfsburg and Arsenal
midfielder Tomas Rosicky, to top the poll which is voted for by coaches,
players and journalists.


The decision to award Cech the honour for a fifth time ensures his place
in the record books, surpassing Pavel Nedved, who clinched the prize on
four separate occasions.
