Drew 表示"此時"他還能打，但別高興的太早，他整個offseason都在跟
背部僵直奮鬥，這是上季末持續至今的老毛病。

「背部原本已有些許緩和，我也已經能打擊、跑壘以及所有的訓練，某天
起床又感到僵直，但那天情形還不太壞，只需要一些保養步驟。」

Drew 也照了 MRI，問題仍是上季相同的 herniated disc 部位。

「我不擔心我會沒有完整的能力去打球，如果今天就開始比賽我可以打，
這不是問題，我已經整個offseason跟他搏鬥，僵直過去就沒事了」

球球隊內部消息指出 Strength coach Dave Page 詢問了 Drew 的情形，
Drew 告訴他感覺很好，同時也通過一些測試，防護員在offseason規律的
造訪球員，這沒甚麼大不了。

看來這傷此時對球隊並沒有甚麼影響，儘管如果 Drew 受傷，替補外野手
Rocco Baldelli 可以頂上來。

Jason Bay 加入春訓中心，目前正規選手只有 Mike Lowell and Mark Kotsay
沒有出現，但今天報到日只需要出現在 Fort Myers 而不必跟球隊報備。

Kotsay 先前 Francona 有提到是在前幾周接受背部手術，週二才會出現。

游擊手 Julio Lugo 跟記者聊天時說他今年會百之百健康 (No...)
也證實在 offseason 聽到一大堆交易的傳言，記者問如果春訓後沒有爭
取到先發位置將會不會向球隊要求被交易？

「這裡有四個或五個人可以在其他球隊打3、4棒，我不太在意，在這隻球隊
無論打第7、第3或第4棒都會得到相同多的打點機會。我覺得這不重要...」

老爹 David Ortiz 的15分鐘訪問，他說 Drew is OK

他對別人對他註解成已經退化感到很失望

"I never tried to turn my back on this ballclub," Ortiz said.
"I got back [last season after a wrist injury] and I wasn't
100 percent but I knew that being in the lineup I was going to
help one way or the other and i tried. I took my chances. Things
didn't work out the way I expected, but sometimes there are people
that don't see the positive side of all that, they just see the
negative. I just put that in the past. I know I can hit."

還談了一些類固醇問題，他覺得藥檢實施後，80-90%的球員比起6年前都
已乾淨許多。

老爹又說了一次打線需要一位 power hitter，也提到前隊友 Manny。

．Michael Bowden 增重10磅肌肉，他現在覺得要在投手丘上獲勝太容易了。
「我的投球課程目前為止很完美，我感覺超強壯」這位菜鳥在向球隊暗示...

．新同學前教士捕手 Josh Bard 說他不可置信紅襪牛棚擁有齋藤隆大叔。

「我在國聯的這段時間，他的stuff排在前5名，我想表達的是，Saito
是極少數擁有這種最骯髒 (filthiest XD)、只能用想像的stuff。
他從來不犯錯，我在這領域的幾年裡沒看過有人控制球能比他還好...」

．Jason Bay 現在不擔心合約問題，可能在年底成為自由球員挑戰市場，
Bay 也說他也希望能跟紅襪簽長約，因為他享受在這裡打球。

Varitek 得知外界對他左打的意見，希望他放棄 switch-hitting
專心在右打擊區上，他的回答很簡單：

"Oh my goodness. Hell no."

「你有想過在15年沒試過，卻突然要在面對右投時用右打會如何嗎？」

"it’s ludicrous."

但是過去12年這個差距非常地令人震驚，隊長右打 OPS .863，左打 .616 ...
上一季右打打擊率 .284 ! 左打 .201 ...

有這樣令人咋舌的紀錄，但是球隊從來沒跟球隊討論過放棄 switch-hitting
事實上他就是靠著他右打區的打擊能力在大聯盟站穩的。

Varitek 很納悶(藉口一堆XD)「如果我在季後賽面對 Shields 時用右打
能打出全壘打嗎？」提到這隻在GAME6，2比2平手時打破僵局，促使最後
4比2獲勝的關鍵一擊... "It’s too much of an asset." (無法反駁...)

生涯來看，右打打擊率 .284、左打 .254，右打 OPS .830、左打 .767，
是比去年好...
