今晚我聽到BBC的節目：

我有點好奇的是Match of the Day(當日比賽) 和Match of the Century(世紀之戰)是不是在任何體育活動都能這樣講？還是只有指足球運動？
這兩種的說法在美國、加拿大、澳洲等英語系國家他們都能會翻成同一件事情嗎？或者他們有不同的說法呢？

我想您會問是否 Match of the Day 只能用於足球運動的原因在於 「Match of the Day」除了是常見說法以外也是BBC自1964年以來逢英國賽季便於每週六播出的英超賽事節目名稱。

但其實無論是 Match of the Day 或 Match of the Century 都是一般常見說法，可應用於各體育活動，甚至各種帶有競賽意味的活動，如：電玩、賽車、時裝、設計、烹飪、理財、校際比賽、甚至電視節目比拼收視率也可這麼說。
這在英美語系國家都是常見說法，並不是某局部地區的專有說法，所以通用性無礙。而若是體育活動競賽的話，常見的說法還有 Game of the Day 或者 Play of the Day 等等。
