Chelsea Defender Jack Wakely Signs For Basingstoke Town

We are delighted to announce the loan signing of defender Jack Wakely from
Chelsea Football Club.


Jack Wakely is a tall, strong, two-footed centre-back who joined the
Chelsea Academy as an Under-9 and has featured in both their U23 and U18
sides including captaining the latter.


He comes with high praise from Chelsea who note his fantastic attitude and
maturity along with his ability to play anywhere across a back three or
either side of the centre-back pairing.


In October 2017, he signed a first professional contract at the club until
the summer of 2020.


We'd like to thank Chelsea Football Club for their help in making the loan
move happen and we look forward to working with Jack over the coming
months.

Charlie Colkett Returns To Chelsea

Shrewsbury Town can confirm that Chelsea have recalled Charlie Colkett
from his loan spell with the club. The midfielder has returned to London
having spent six months in Shropshire with Town.


Sam Ricketts gave his thoughts on Colkett's return to his parent club.


“Chelsea requested that they wanted to recall him,” said Sam. “He came
here to play and unfortunately he hasn't played as much as he'd have
liked.


“He is a great lad and has undoubted ability and I really liked him as a
person. His footballing ability is something that is excellent as well. I
just hope for him that it works out where ever he goes in his future.”


Everyone at Shrewsbury Town would like to thank Charlie for his hard work
and dedication whilst at the club and wish him well for the future.

Ostersunds agree deal to sign Chelsea youngster Charlie Colkett

Ostersunds FK have agreed a deal to sign Chelsea youngster Charlie
Colkett. The 22-year-old will join the Swedish club on a
three-and-a-half-year deal and it is understood Ostersunds will pay a
small fee for the midfielder.


Colkett's previous deal with Chelsea was due to run until 2020 but the
youngster has instead opted to join English head coach Ian Burchnall at
the Allsvenskan side.


"We have succeeded in getting Charlie, which means a lot to us. He is a
young promising player who has chosen to play with us and it feels
incredibly good," said Burchnall.


Ostersunds FK have embarked on a philosophy of signing young English
talent under new head of recruitment David Webb, and they signed Francis
Jno-Baptiste from Crystal Palace last month.


Colkett is a former England youth international from U16 to U20 level but
has been unable to break into the first team at Stamford Bridge. He was
part of the Chelsea youth side which recorded back-to-back triumphs in
both the UEFA Youth League and the FA Youth Cup in 2015 and 2016.


Colkett then had loan spells at Dutch side Vitesse as well as Swindon,
Bristol Rovers and Shrewsbury Town.


"I've known him since he was 16, a young guy who is incredibly technical
and creative," added Webb. "We have chased him for a long time and now he
has finally signed up for us."
