Minnesota: Kevin McHale hasn't had very many positive draft memories, so
maybe he should leave on this high note. Regardless of what happens with
Garnett, the only logical choice with the No. 7 pick was the best player
available, Corey Brewer. This was a no-brainer, even for the Wolves. They
brought in Brewer's college buddy Chris Richard for a shot, which is a nice
touch.

7. MINNESOTA TIMBERWOLVES. Are they drafting someone to play alongside Kevin
Garnett, or his eventual replacement? Gotta think either Brewer or Noah goes
here. Or Spencer Hawes, I suppose. Both Wrights are still on the board too,
wow. THE PICK: Corey Brewer.
Nice. I like it. Sick perimeter defender, looks absolutely psyched to be up
on stage. Dick Vitale calls him “Mr. Versatility.” Of course. If KG sticks
around, he should love playing with Corey. (Who, by the way, is roughly the
23rd player who has “strength” listed for his “must improve.” Shocking.
Damn, I thought Kevin Durant signed with adidas and I just hadn’t heard yet.
But no, it’s an EA commercial. Bummer. (Gilbert Arenas is brilliant as
usual.)

The T-Wolves get a terrific player in Corey Brewer who can drive, shoot, and
defend. Brewer was as valuable to Florida in its run to two titles as Al
Horford. He doesn’t mind working for his shots and can get 14 points a game
as a rookie

(7) Corey Brewer - Timberwolves - SF/SG
Florida - Ht: 6'9 Wt: 185 - SI Grade: 9
A safe pick. The T'Wolves need help at small forward, and Brewer is a Scottie
Pippen type who can score and defend - though he needs to bulk up. Still,
Kevin Garnett should enjoy having this winner from Florida on his side --
assuming KG is still around next season.
