Portland Trail Blazers big man LaMarcus Aldridge will be a free agent in
July. With his team down 3-0 to the Memphis Grizzlies in the first round, it
is possible that his days as a Blazer are numbered. In a third-quarter
sideline report during Saturday's Game 3 loss, ESPN's Chris Broussard said
Aldridge was noncommital about his future.

going to be your first choice?' And he just smiled and said, 'We'll see.'
It's not a ringing endorsement for the Blazers.

where he has the best chance to win. Now, there's significant speculation
around the league that he is going to be Portland. A lot of people think the
Spurs could be his landing spot. Or, if he just wants glamour and to have his
own team, it could be the Lakers."

The rumors about the teams interested in Aldridge are nothing new. A person
with knowledge of his free-agent strategy recently told CBSSports.com's Ken
Berger that all options are on the table, and he "wouldn't be surprised" if
he wound up in Texas.

Aldridge, who turns 30 in July, has every right to explore his options. He's
been in Portland since he was drafted in 2006, and the reality is that he
probably hasn't made up his mind yet. With the Blazers, he'd have the chance
to continue teaming with Damian Lillard and remain the biggest sports figure
in Portland. If he leads the team to a title, he could indeed go down as the
greatest Blazer ever.

Re-signing still seems like the safest choice, if only because Aldridge
promised last offseason that he'd stick around. If he bolts for, say, the
Spurs, though, could you really blame him? He has gone through all sorts of
ups and downs in Portland, and he might want to try something new. On the
outside, it's impossible to know how big a factor heading home might be.
