Four games left. On one hand, it’s been a tough season, with so many losses,
so many injuries, so many players (21 in uniform, 24 under some sort of
contract). But now, with the Nets playing their best basketball in two YEARS,
it will be tough to let it go.

But now, the off-season is days away. Never a dull moment at NetsDaily!

April 12 - End of regular season. Bonuses and incentives are calculated for
those players who have them in their contracts. Former Nets Greivis Vasquez
and Luis Scola had bonuses in their deals, but they’re gone. Also, teams
under the CBA salary floor must distribute difference between their payroll
and floor to roster players on roster as of this date. Salary floor is $84.6
million. Nets are at around $83.6 million in salary. So each of the 15 guys
on the roster will get a nice check.

April 15 - NBA playoffs begin.

May 16 - NBA Draft Lottery, New York. Steel yourself. The Nets and Celtics
must swap picks this year, but swap is determined based on lottery results.
So if Nets finish with the worst record but are third after the lottery, the
third pick, not the first, goes to Boston. There’s a slim to none chance the
Nets wind up with the 29th or even 28th draft position. Slim meaning a
percent or two.

June 22 - NBA Draft, likely to held again at Barclays Center. Perhaps a
concessionaire could market Billy King face masks? The Nets will have two
picks in the late 20’s, with the Boston swap and the Washington pick
acquired in the Bojan Bogdanovic deal. As of Wednesday, they would be the
23rd and 27th picks.


The Nets don’t have their own second rounder, which goes to Atlanta, but
will have the Celtics pick, currently No. 57, and if the Pacers don’t make
the playoffs their pick as well. The Nets could also buy a second rounder.
They have $3.4 million available. With the new CBA permitting up to 17
players on next year’s rosters, including two-way players who will split
their time between NBA and D-League rosters, expect second rounders to be
more valuable, most costly.

June 29 - Team option for K.J. McDaniels’ upcoming $3,476,873 contract must
be exercised.

starting at 12 midnight. Under new CBA, teams can tender offer sheets to
restricted free agents on July 1. Player’s current team has 48 hours, rather
than the current 72, to match. But no more “poison pill” deals like the one
Brooklyn offered Tyler Johnson.

Archie Goodwin deal haven’t been disclosed, but it seems likely they will
match Dinwiddie’s with multiple trigger dates for partial guarantees to kick
in.

August 31 to September 17 — Eurobasket 2017. As of now, only one player on
the roster is eligible: Justin Hamilton who has dual U.S. - Croatian
