According to the Elias Sports Bureau, scoring was down to 8.5 total runs per
game in 2011, through Tuesday. That's lower than the 8.8 final figure in 2010
and the 9.2 overall number in 2009.

it would mark the first time baseball's ERA was under the 4.00 mark since
1992, when it was 3.75.
