It’s no secret that the Los Angeles Lakers tried—and failed—to bring in some
reinforcements into their squad prior before last Thursday’s trade deadline. On
e of the names that were linked to LA was Dennis Schroder of the Boston Celtics,
who eventually landed with the Houston Rockets before the buzzer.

The Lakers apparently wanted to reunite with Schroder, who incidentally, made hi

al. The Lakers reportedly entered negotiations with the Celtics for the 28-year-
old point guard, but as it turns out, their offer did not meet Boston’s valuati
on for Schroder (h/t Steve Bulpett of heavy.com):

Word is the Celts were looking at other options for Schroder, whose in and out p
lay and the fact it would be near impossible to re-sign him this summer made him
a prime candidate for a new address. We’re told the Lakers were offering a cou
ple of second-round picks and some minimum contracts and that there were a numbe
r of other talks, but the C’s eventually decided to clear out roster space and
reunite with Theis.

ays with this lot in exchange for a guy like Schroder so, at this point, the tea
m is stuck with the current roster.
