Hyung-Taik Lee To Retire In October

Former World No. 36 Hyung-Taik Lee, who is Korea’s highest-ever ranked
player, will retire from professional tennis in October.

The 33-year-old Lee is already looking to inspire the next generation of
children by opening the “Hyung-Taik Lee Academy” in the Gangwon Province on
12 September.

學童成為網壇新秀。

“I want to pour all my effort into bringing up young talented tennis players,
” said Lee, to the Korea Times. “I am very proud of starting my academy in
my hometown. While I moved around the world on the tour, I really felt that
Koreans could be world class tennis players. My goal is train players who can
make it into the Top 100.”
李亨澤接受當地媒體訪問時表示︰「我將全力培育許多有天份的年輕球員。」「對於能
夠在自己家鄉成立網球學院，我感到非常自豪。當我在世界各地巡迴參賽，我確實體認到
韓國能夠擁有世界級的球員，我的目標將訓練選手成為世界前百大。

In January 2003 he became the first Korean to capture an ATP singles title at
the Medibank International in Sydney, where he qualified and beat Juan Carlos
Ferrero 4-6, 7-6, 7-6 in the final. Two months later he clinched his only ATP
doubles trophy at the SAP Open in San Jose (w/Voltchkov).
在2003年1月的雪梨男網賽，李亨澤成為第1位奪得ATP單打冠軍的韓國選手，

His best performances at a Grand Slam came at the US Open, where he reached
the fourth round in 2000 (l. to Sampras) and 2007 (l. to Davydenko). His best
showing at ATP World Tour Masters 1000 tournaments came at 2003 Miami (l. to
Ginepri) and 2008 Indian Wells (l. to Wawrinka), when he made fourth round
exits.

Lee made his Davis Cup debut in February 1995 and amassed a 51-23 overall
record in 30 ties (41-9 in singles). In beating the Slovak Republic in
September 2007, Lee led Korea back to the World Group for the first time in
20 years.
