Given admits move could be a possibility

Shay Given has threatened to leave Manchester City if he does not start their
Premier League opener against Tottenham on Saturday.

MirrorSport revealed yesterday how Arsenal are trying to take Given on loan
for the season, with Joe Hart set to start the new campaign as City’s No.1.
《鏡報體育》昨天報導 Arsenal 有意以租借來引進 Given ，而 Joe Hart 即將成為
ManCity 新賽季的 No.1。
And Given, speaking on international duty with the Republic of Ireland, said
he would demand to go elsewhere if Hart got the nod ahead of him.
Given 在隨愛爾蘭國家隊參賽前，表示只要 Hart 成了第一門將，會決定轉去別隊。
“I think we’re both at a stage where we need to be playing football,” said
Given.
『我想我們都處在同樣的境遇，我們都想要踢足球，』Given 表示。
“If I don’t start then I will sit down with the club next week and see
where my future lies, and maybe it will be vice-versa with Joe.
『若我不能先發就只能隨隊一直坐板凳，並想著我的未來何去何從，反過來 Joe Hart 也
會有同樣的感覺。』
“We both feel that we need to be playing. I’m at a stage where I need to be
playing, I’m 34 and I haven’t got millions of years left to play football.
『我們都深感自己必須上場。而我處在必須上場的處境，我已經34歲了，我已經沒時間等
待什麼時候才可以上場。』
“Hopefully I will play on Saturday, but whatever decision the manager makes
I will respect that and then sit down with the club next week.”

Although Given is determined to play a major role in City’s ambitious future
plans, he said he would be prepared to go out on loan because he needs to
playing regularly.
雖然 Given 決心要扮演 ManCity 雄心壯志拿下冠軍的要角，但也不排除得租借出去以便
取得固定的先發機會。
“Ideally I’d like to stay because it’s a big and ambitious club, with
fantastic owners and I want to be part of that,” said Given. “That’s why I
joined in the first place.

“But possibly, if I didn’t start, then there could be a loan and then I’d
come back and see where that takes me.”

Given, who has recovered from the shoulder injury which ruled him out of the
end of last season, admitted whoever starts at White Hart Lane could consider
themselves to be City’s first-choice keeper.
Given 因肩傷缺席後段賽事而今已恢復，認為誰在 White Hart Lane 先發可能就是
ManCity 的第一門將。
“The manager will decide who he wants to start with on Saturday and you
would imagine that will be who he wants to play in most of the games this
season,” said Given.
『教練會決定帶上誰在週六先發，可想而知，那也表示將會在整個賽季中一直先發。』
“Joe’s a top keeper as well so it’s inevitable that there will be
speculation about who will start. That’s part and parcel of being at a big
club because there are so many great players there.

因為這裡有很多優秀的球員。』
“It’s not just my position, there are 10 other positions where people aren’
t sure who is going to play.”
