Natural goalscorers will always remain natural goalscorers insists Thomas
Tuchel, with two of the most famous centre-forwards in world football set
to go head to head at Stamford Bridge today.

Romelu Lukaku and Tottenham's Harry Kane have the same amount of league
goals to their names this season, five apiece, and have both gone through
periods without goals. In the case of the Chelsea no.9, this has led to
talk of his time under new Spurs boss Antonio Conte at Inter Milan and how
he played there, and Tuchel has joined that conversation ahead of this
afternoon's kick-off.


'I can watch football games and I can see where Romelu plays and how he
plays and how Inter play, I would say it is not rocket science,' declares
our head coach.


'We have a pretty clear picture of what Romelu can do, can offer to our
game and how we want to include him into our game, and we can clearly
improve on that.

'I remember with Harry Kane I heard a lot of criticism about him at the
beginning of the season but in the end, he is what he is. He's a
goalscorer. I don't know it but I assume he did this for the whole life of
his career.'


Tuchel goes on say that personally, he believes if a player has been able
to score as prolifically as Lukaku and Kane have done so at the highest
level, that player has been banging in goals from around six years old or
whenever they began playing football in a game format.


'You just have it and you will never lose it,' he adds. 'These guys will
in the end of a season have a certain amount of goals. Why? Because they
proved it. This is simply what they do.'

Ever since they began occupying opposing technical areas during the recent
spate of games between Chelsea and Spurs, comparisons have been made
between the energy and actions of Thomas Tuchel and our former boss
Antonio Conte as they guide and urge on their respective teams.

Eyes and cameras will be on the pair again at Stamford Bridge today as the
Blues aim to continue our winning run against our big London rivals, and
how he and Conte act on the sidelines is a subject Tuchel has talked about
in the build-up to the latest meeting.


'It's always clear it is an Antonio Conte team,' he begins. 'They play
always with a desire to win and always with a huge physical input and a
relentless style, and he is like this on the touchline, coaching his teams
like this.


'It is very hard to play against his teams and now we do it for a third
time, but it does not affect so much my coaching. You always need to find
a good mix between emotions and a cool head. This is on me like it is for
the players.

'You need to know about the importance of the game, to know what it means
to the supporters, to know what it means in the league table, but you
cannot get carried away by your emotions.


'For example on Tuesday at Brighton, we were too much involved in our
emotions, like frustration, anger or disappointment, and when you play a
derby like this against Tottenham or against an emotional guy like Antonio
Conte, we cannot play from pure emotions.'


Tuchel emphasises he wants plenty of emotion and the support that
generates from the Chelsea fans inside Stamford Bridge today, but he
intends to be cool in the decisive moments and keep a clear head, even if
he appears animated as he watches on and at times frustrated with what he
sees on the pitch.


'If you want to do better you get sucked into the game,' he admits, 'but I
don't think the players see that so much when they are playing, they don't
hear so much when the stadium is full.


'But I need also to accept that this is me and it is sometimes easier and
sometimes a bit harder to keep calm. It depends on little details. It
depends on what I feel and what I also feel is needed, but there's always
room for improvement from everybody.'
