Papy Djilobodji insists he remains in the dark as to why he was discarded by
Chelsea.
The Senegal international defender’s only appearance for the Blues following
his summer move from Nantes came as a late substitute in a 4-1 win over
Walsall in the Capital One Cup in September.
The 27-year-old was loaned to Werder Bremen in January and made a solid debut
in their 3-1 win over Schalke, but admits he is unsure why he was never given
a chance to impress in the Premier League.
"Really I do not know. I gave everything," he told Bild in response to being
asked why Jose Mourinho, the manager who signed him, never picked him.
"But the coaches have decided it. For me, it is also an incentive to continue
to work."
Despite being snubbed by Chelsea, Djilobodji is looking forward to rebuilding
his career in Germany and believes Bremen, currently third from bottom in the
Bundesliga, are capable of beating the drop.
He added: "The team is very good. And also all the people around the club are
great. There is no reason why we will not play in the Bundesliga next season."
