When Arsene Wenger revealed that the goalkeeper who started at Anfield on
August 15th would be Arsenal’s no.1 for the 2010/11 campaign, most Gooners
began to worry.

The Gunners chief failed to land Fulham’s Mark Schwarzer despite a summer of
interest, while Almunia had admitted that the possible imminent arrival of
another experienced goalkeeper at Arsenal would be unsettling.
教授 未能引進 Fulham 的 Mark Schwarzer，儘管暑假都在傳聞這事，當時 Almunia 表示
自己對於可能引進有經驗的門將而感到不安。
Speaking to reporters earlier today, Wenger heaped the praise on Arsenal’s
Spanish ‘keeper, stating that Almunia has ”done extremely well” given the
circumstances.
教授 今早向記者提及，亟力讚揚這名 Arsenal 的西班牙籍門將，說 Almunia 在許多情況
下“表現非常好”。
“I believe that when you play for Arsenal – and you just said to me you
would be ready to walk on your knees to play for Arsenal – I can’t feel too
sorry for the players who play for Arsenal.
『我相信，當你為 Arsenal 踢球時─也就是只要對我說你準備好上場為 Arsenal 踢球─
我就不會太擔心這名為 Arsenal 踢球的球員。』
“I believe you have to deal with competition. That’s part of our job. And
he (Almunia) has done extremely well.
『我認為你必須去面對競爭，因為這是我們的職責。而 Almunia 過去做得很好。』
“I give a lot of credit to Almunia and (Lukasz) Fabianski, during all this
period they have coped very well with the pressure and the uncertainty and
now they should deal even better with the situation because they know they
will play.”
『我對 Almunia 和 Lukasz Fabianski 有極大的信心，在這段期間他們對壓力和疑慮處理
得很好，現在他們會更好地處理這些情形，因為他們知道隨時會上場。』
