At the end of the fourth day of round 1 pool play, ten of the 24 participating
teams were already sure of a place in the second round of the FIVB Women’s
World Championship in Nagoya and Osaka.
Surprise contenders Chinese Taipei and Serbia and Montenegro continued to
breeze through the qualifiers and will join Brazil, China, Germany, Italy,
Japan, Poland, Russia and the USA in the second round. The remaining six
vacancies will be decided in tomorrow’s final matches.
