On a day another summer scorcher of a day in London, Justine defeated elegant
glam girl Daniela Hantuchova 6-3 6-1 in 1 hour and 5 minutes of action. The
hot conditions made things less comfortable on serves for practically all the
players that started midday, but Justine showed the center court crowd, and
the SW19 visitors that a new boss is definetely in the city. The gallant
Belgian will next play Severine Bremond a spirited qualifier.

It's been four years since Justine and Daniela have played each other on
tour. Their paths went onto very different roads, and the advances the
swashbuckling grand slam winning Belgian has made was on show at center
court. The match started out very quickly with Justine racing ahead to a 4-1
lead. The heat made holding a burden as Daniela found her game, and playing
pretty winning shots to grab the next games that all went against the server.
Justine collected the first set breaking the fragile Hantuchova serve 6-2.

The start of the second set gave the impression that Justine was under
pressure at 0-40, but she raced ahead to 4-0 instead. Not flawless
perfection, but Justine absorbed the heat, and attained the second set 6-1.

Final Score 6-3 6-1 in 1hr 5 min


The quarterfinals will be played on Tuesday. Justine will face Frenchwoman
Severine Bremond, 26 years and ranked 129 with the WTA. We'll have match time
details and more in the course of the day.

Fed Cup encore for Justine?

Justine would dearly love to play at Fed Cup in Belgium on July 15, and July
16, but nothing has been confirmed. Captain Carl Maes has formally submitted
the Belgium team roster, and Justine has agreed to be on the start list for
Belgium with the understanding that if a player's name is not on the official
country team list she will not be allowed to play at the Fed Cup semi-finals.
As stated earlier in our news Justine can only confirm her availability after
Wimbledon, and all in regards to her health status during the time of the Fed
Cup tie.
