Justine transcended Serena Williams 6-4 3-6 6-3 in the most highly
anticipated quarterfinal of the fortnight. It was bravery and intuitive
tennis that propelled Miss Henin. The quest continues on Friday against
Marion Bartoli in the semi-finals. The Frenchwoman was the victor over Jelena
Jankovic in the 4th round, and Michaela Krajicek in the quarterfinal.

The battle started out ferociously with Williams aiming at Justine's elegant
neck in the first point. Out to present something more to Henin than
assumptions and stereotypes, Williams showed unusual delicate shots with fine
execution. The American's serves throughout the match were in the 120 mph
levels, but the Belgian's dexerity vanquished Williams in the last two games
of the set. Justine won the only breakpoint, and the set 6-4.

Williams went for a more spartan approach in the second set, and rocked for
massive American power hitting, and forceful play. The swirls of wind
repeatedly kept the odd miss hit, and wayward shots into center court much to
amused audience murmurs. Justine was unable to handle turbulance, and with
anxiety conceded the second set 3-6.

The rains failed to emerge as the heavens decided to let this particular
match go uninterupted. Justine soared to a 5-1 lead, but lost her focus as
Williams vetoed against a finish to the match. The world #1 went from
imperfection to perfection after losing her first match point with a woeful
volley to a sublime drop shot, and launched for a second match point.
