After a couple of weeks of nothing happening, the Minnesota Twins have pulled
the trigger and have extended Brian Dozier a four-year, $20 million dollar
contract. He'll be under contract through 2018, which is the same number of
years that the Twins would have had him under team control.

The details, as you can see above, translate into a pretty nice deal for both
Dozier and the Twins. Dozier will make $2 million this season, a year in
which he very well could have made a quarter of that total since he is still
a pre-arbitration player. But in return, the Twins lock up their second
baseman in years three and four on relatively decent terms provided he stays
productive.
