Jose Mourinho said in his post-match comments yesterday that defensive
mistakes and the referee's decision not to award us a penalty proved
decisive, while the stats back up his verdict that we were consistently
dangerous going forward…


In total we made almost 100 more passes than Tottenham with a higher
completion rate of 77%. We had 54.4% of the possession and over 50% of the
territory. In the attacking third, we completed 50 more passes than our
north London rivals.


Five of the game's top six passers wore Chelsea blue; Cesc Fabregas's 56
passes were by some distance the most on the pitch. Nemanja Matic was
next.


In the attacking third, Eden Hazard led the way closely followed by
Fabregas. That duo linked up for one of the game's three most frequent
pass combinations, with the Spaniard picking out Hazard 13 times. Gary
Cahill to John Terry and Cesar Azpilicueta to Hazard were the other two.


We had 19 attempts on goal, while Tottenham had 11. Seven of our shots hit
the target.


In terms of tackling Cesar Azpilicueta led the way, winning the ball on 10
occasions, twice as many as anyone else.


Tottenham committed 14 fouls to our 10 with Hazard the recipient of four,
the most of any player. In 12 of our 20 league games to date Hazard has
been the most fouled player on the pitch.


Hazard created five chances yesterday and had five shots on goal, both
game-high figures. He also completed three take-ons, more than any other
player. In total we completed 10 take-ons to Tottenham's seven.
