Talks about Kevin Garnett's future continue.
Phoenix Suns General Manager Steve Kerr told reporters Friday that he and the
Wolves were talking about a deal for Garnett, but said it would be difficult
to get a deal done.

"As far as KG specifically, it's tough because of the contract," Kerr was
quoted by the Arizona Republic as saying after the Suns had conducted a

what would be possible in that regard. The only way we would do it is if we
could make our team better and do it in a financially viable way. So that's
what we're exploring."

But there are reasons why Kerr termed the possibility of such a deal a long
shot. For example:

‧ The Wolves apparently want Suns star Amare Stoudemire included in any deal
rather than Shawn Marion, the player the Suns most likely would want to
include.

‧ The most viable way to work around this would be to include a third team
in any trade. Boston has expressed an interest in Marion, but his agent has
made it clear Marion doesn't want to go there. Marion, who is scheduled to
make $16.4 million next season, can opt out of his contract after that season
ends.

‧ Garnett's scheduled salary of $22 million would go up by about $3 million
thanks to a trade kicker in his contract. It would appear the Suns, hard up
against the cap, would find it difficult to make that contract work.


不過Kerr沒有馬上答應這項交易有幾個理由：

1.灰狼顯然想要Amare而不是Marion，而Amare是太陽最希望能留下來的球員。

When asked of Stoudemire was untradable, Kerr said no.

"Nobody's untradeable," he said. "Kareem Abdul-Jabbar got traded. ... With
that said, it would take an awful lot for that to happen."

A report late Thursday suggested the Suns were a preferred destination for
Garnett should he be traded, in part because of the chance to win a title and
play with guard Steve Nash. The two are said to be friends.

Meanwhile, teammate Mark Madsen said he'd be shocked if Garnett were traded.

to say goodbye to Kevin Garnett. He's too great of a teammate, a human being."

available to comment Friday.

Interestingly, Madsen himself has talked in the past of the friendship
between Nash and Garnett in his blog. It dates back a few seasons to when

booing Nash and Garnett went to him and told him to keep his head up, that he
was a great player. The two have been friends ever since.

whether it would make us better. We'll do all that research and see where it
takes us."
