Right-hander ready to go after alleviating elbow soreness

CLEVELAND -- Carlos Silva will come off the disabled list and return to
the Mariners' starting rotation Monday against the Rangers.

"He is 100 percent ready to go," Seattle manager Jim Riggleman said.

Silva was placed on the disabled list Aug. 16, one day after he was rocked
for nine hits and nine earned runs in 3 1/3 innings against his former team,
the Twins, to pick up his 14th loss of the season -- one shy of his career
high. Silva complained of soreness around his right elbow after the start
and was later diagnosed with right triceps tendinitis.

The injury caused Silva to dip his arm more than usual, causing his trademark
sinker to be ineffective. His numbers, though, had been taking a significant
dip since the beginning of May.

After blazing to a 3-0 record and recording five quality starts in his first
six outings, Silva gave up eight runs in three innings against the Yankees in
a start May 4 and has not been the same thereafter. Since April 17, the 29-
year-old right-hander is 1-14 with a 7.30 ERA. In his last five starts before
we went on the DL for the fourth time of his career, Silva racked up an 11.39
ERA and had struck out as many as he walked.

在前六次出賽繳出五次優質先發，3勝0敗的超猛表現之後，Silva在五月四號對戰洋基三
局失了八分自責，而從此成績直直落。從四月17號開始算的話，這個29歲的右投到目前投
出的成績是1勝14敗，防禦率7.30。這次進傷兵名單是他生涯的第四次，在進場維修之前
的五次先發，Silva累計防禦率高達11.39，投出的保送也跟三振一樣多。

In other injury-related news, Riggleman said he was not sure when reliever Mark
Lowe will be ready to return from a knee injury that inspired the club to
option him to Triple-A Tacoma last week.

另一個跟受傷相關的新聞，Riggleman說他不確定他們中繼Mark Lowe膝蓋的傷勢能否歸
隊，球隊只好在上週先把他下放3A。

Lowe was hit in the left foot by a line drive last Saturday against the
Athletics and was on crutches Sunday. On Monday, Riggleman opted to send Lowe
down and bring up right-handed reliever Randy Messenger so the Mariners could
fill Lowe's spot in the bullpen without having to place him on the 15-day DL,
which would allow him to return to the active roster Monday when Major League
rosters expand.

Lowe上週六在對運動家的時候被一個平飛球擊中左腳，隔天就拄拐杖了…
週一Riggleman決定先下放Lowe，而把也是中繼的右投Randy Messenger拉上來補Lowe在
牛棚的位置，而不用把Lowe放到15天傷兵名單，這樣他就可以在禮拜一回到擴編後的40
人名單。

Riggleman had said earlier this week that he would like Lowe to get some work
in with the Rainiers before their season wraps up Monday.

Riggleman本週稍早說他希望讓Lowe在3A Rainiers週一季賽結束前先做些練習。

"I saw him [Wednesday] and he was still hobbling," Riggleman said. "I don't
know if he's going to be ready to pitch the next couple of days or not.
I hope he is, and I hope he can get a little work in at Tacoma, too."
