After bringing Allen Iverson, Besiktas now pushed for the transfer of the
Boston Celtics’ star Shaquille O’Neal. Seref Yalcin, GM of the Turkish
club, said he was in the United States to meet with the center who said to
him: “I want to be champion this season with Boston. But I’m coming to
Turkey next year.”

在引進Allen Iverson之後，Besiktas又將目標瞄準了超賽的Shaquille O'Neal。
據稱Besiktas俱樂部的GM - Seref Yalcin曾到美國與Shaq會談，當時Shaq對他說...

Yalcin also said Iverson served as an intermediary, talking with Shaq to
convince him to sign with the Turkish club. Shaquille O’Neal has signed a
two-year contract witht he Boston Celtics but the second year is a player
option, which means that, if a lock-out is confirmed in the next months, this
scenario isn’t completely unthinkable.

“Some people will still come out and said ‘Shaq won’t come to Turkey’,”
Yalcin added. “But the chances are very high.”

Well, everyone thought that the arrival of Allen Iverson was impossible. And
it happened. We don’t see O’Neal come to Europe before he’s 40 but we also
never say never.
