Rowland-Smith excited for ball 'Down Under' - 美國職棒

SEATTLE -- Ryan Rowland-Smith is 100 percent behind the return of professional

baseball to his native Australia.

It was jointly announced on Thursday by Major League Baseball and

the Australia Baseball Federation that professional baseball will

return to Australia in November with the launch of

the Australian Baseball League.

這件事情在禮拜二時由大聯盟跟澳洲的職業聯盟共同宣布，

在各界的推動下職業棒球將於11月重返澳洲

The ABL will provide the vast talent pool of baseball players from

Australia with the opportunity to compete in an elite national league,

which will serve as a pipeline to MLB and other international leagues.

MLB has partnered with the Australian Baseball Federation in support of

the league.

ABL(澳洲職業聯盟)提供許多優秀且有淺力的球員機會去比賽藉以提升球員的經驗，

這些都將讓這些年輕的球員有一個築夢的管道得以進入棒球的殿堂MLB或是其他國際上的

棒球聯盟，MLB跟澳洲棒協常有密切的合作，從ABL就可以看出來。

"When I was a kid growing up in the mid-'90s,

we had a professional league but it got shut down,"

the Mariners left-hander said. "

It was really disappointing because I couldn't see any live, quality baseball."

這位水手隊的澳洲左投說：『當我還是小鬼的時候，我們也有職業棒球，

只是他倒了。那是很令人失望因為我看不到現場轉播也看不到優質的棒球賽。』

The inaugural ABL season will run from November through January and consist of

six teams, representing Sydney, Canberra, Melbourne, Perth, Brisbane and

Adelaide.

新的ABL賽季將會在11月時開跑一直比賽到1月，總共有6支球隊共襄盛舉，

將在澳洲各大城市比賽，包括了雪梨以及墨爾本等大城市。

The six teams, stocked with prospects from several countries,

will be aligned in a single division with each team playing a 40-game schedule.

Each team will play a four-game series at home and away against each of

the other five teams.

6支球隊擁有許多來自不同國家的新秀，每支球隊將會進行共計40場賽事包含了

4個主場系列賽跟4個客場系列賽。

The top four teams at the end of the regular season will move on to the

playoffs, consisting of three best-of-three-game series.

The playoffs will run from the last week of January through the

second week of February.

只有4隻球隊最後可以在球季結束之後進入季後賽(Playoffs)，

季後賽將進行5戰3勝制的系列賽，季後賽將預計在1月的最後一個禮拜到2月的

第二個禮拜間進行。

Rowland-Smith said he has arranged his offseason schedule so that

he will spend November and December in Australia to help the ABL be successful.

RRS表示他已經安排了將在11月以及12月會在澳洲的球隊比賽，

他說他會幫助澳洲職業聯盟，他希望ABL會是成功的。

"I would like to be involved in any way I can to help the profile of it,

possibly from a media level," he said. "Being more of a senior member of

Australian Baseball Federation, me and hopefully some of the other guys,

like Grant Balfour, will do the same thing."

RRS說他會盡力讓澳洲的職業聯盟發展得更好，

做為一個比較成長(或是稍有成就的)的澳洲棒球員，

他跟許多跟他一樣也覺得身負重任的人都一樣，

他們都認為自己將會對澳洲的棒球發展做一些事情。
