ROGERS CUP: The Draw

The draw for the 2005 Rogers Cup edition at Toronto was released today on
Saturday August 14. Justine seeded 4th has a 1st round bye, and will face
young Russian Elena Linetskaya or a qualifier in the 2nd round. In 2003
Justine won the Rogers Cup Toronto defeating Russia's Lina Krasnoroutskaya in
the final 6-1, 6-0 enroute to her US Open triumph. Justine did not participate
in the Rogers Cup last year.


Justine will have a bye for the first time this season seeded in at number 4.
The other top seeds are as follows Maria Sharapova at 1, Amelie Mauresmo 2,
Svetlana Kuznetsova 3, Serena Williams 5, Nadia Petrova 6, Kim Clijsters at
7, and Mary Pierce 8.

The top 8 seeded players will play their first matches on Tuesday and
Wednesday. Justine is in the bottom half of the draw and may possibly face
Daniela Hantuchova in the 4th round, Mary Pierce in the quarterfinals, and
Amelie Mauresmo in the semi final. The top half of the draw features Maria
Sharapova, Serena Williams, Kim Clijsters and Anastasia Myskina.

Justine will play her first match on either Tuesday or Wednesday. Stay tuned
