ULSAN, South Korea (Reuters) - Raul and David Albelda both
missed training again on Tuesday ahead of Spain's World Cup
quarter-final against South Korea or Italy on Saturday.
Both players were injured during the side's penalty shootout
victory over Ireland in the second round and are doubtful
for the quarter-final in Kwangju.
The good news for coach Jose Antonio Camacho was the return
to full training of midfielder Luis Enrique, who also took a
knock in the Ireland game.
Spain's quarter-final kicks off at 1530 local time and as from
Wednesday Spain will shift their main training session of the
day to that time in order to get used to the fierce early afternoon heat.
Spain have played all their matches in the evening so far,
three at 2030 and one at 1800, and they are clearly
concerned about the change in kickoff time.
"Whoever you play at that time you know you're in for a difficult
game," midfielder Juan Carlos Valeron said on Tuesday.
"The thing I like least, though, is that the pitch conditions
won't be perfect as far as we're concerned.
It's better for us if the ball comes to you a bit quicker over
the ground."
Several players had their partners and families in attendance
during Tuesday's training session.
Most of them took the opportunity to have photographs taken with
Camachin ("Little Camacho"), the puppy liberated from a market by a
Spanish television crew and named after the coach.
