Hi everyone. Last year I blogged from Madrid, now Stanford :)
Let me catch you up on what I've been up to since Wimbledon... I didn't do
well at Wimbledon and didn't play so many matches there, so I only took a few
days off before I started practicing again. I actually went back home for two
weeks. Even when I'm practicing three times a day there it's so nice to be
there - I always enjoy being home. Two weeks at home is a lot for a tennis
player!
I was really looking forward to coming back to Stanford. I like this
tournament a lot. It's a pretty calm city, not too busy, so you can just
practice and rest and play your matches. There are a lot of practice courts
so you never have to fight with other players for them :) The hotel is in the
city too so you can go for a walk when you want. I also had a good time and
did very well here last year...
I'm also really happy to have Ula here with me. It's the greatest thing we're
playing the same tournament and doing well. Today we played at the same time
so we couldn't watch each other's matches, but it's always good to have a
sister, someone to practice with... and she's family too. We have fun in the
evening too, actually we go to a certain place a bit too much...
The Cheesecake Factory is a restaurant chain that has great food and so many
different kinds of cheesecake for dessert... Can you imagine we tried almost
every kind of cheesecake there during Indian Wells and Miami? Well except one
- peanut butter... because I don't really like peanut butter! It's very close
to the hotel, which is dangerous, because we could end up going there every
night. We went yesterday. Maybe we'll try to cut down to every second
night... Anyway my favorite is white chocolate coconut, oh my God it's
unbelievable. Also, the Oreo one is very good. Those are my two favorites. I
also like their meals too - orange chicken, cashew spicy chicken and crispy
spicy beef ;)
I had my first round match today too. I played Zahlavova Strycova and it was
tough, but I played well. It was my first hardcourt match after the grass and
clay season. The first match of any tournament is always tough, especially
here in these hot conditions, but I did well. Two sets. I'm ready to go.
Have a good night and talk to you all tomorrow :)
