Clippers' Paul George returns to Oklahoma City to warm reception: 'It made me
feel appreciated'

OKLAHOMA CITY — Just like when he first visited this city two years ago,
Paul George met legions of Oklahoma City Thunder fans eager to see him.
Unlike when he first met them, George greeted them wearing a different
uniform Sunday.

No matter. About five months after the Thunder accommodated his trade request
to the Los Angeles Clippers, George received a warm reception during lineup
introductions.

First, the Thunder played a brief video tribute highlighting George’s
involvement with the community through his foundation. Then, the
majority of Thunder fans gave George a loud standing ovation once the public
address announcer said his name. During the applause, George waved to the
crowd while smiling.

Unfortunately for George and the Clippers, they faced something more
difficult than a hostile crowd could have ever done. Despite dealing George
and Russell Westbrook in different deals last summer, the Thunder showed the
Clippers in a 118-112 win the thin line between an overachieving, rebuilding
team and a championship contender still figuring out its dynamic.

rebounds. The Clippers’ other scorers in George (18 points on 6-of-17
shooting) and Lou Williams (22 points on 7-of-20) struggled to stay efficient.
