Members of the British press report that Andy Murray has pulled out of three
upcoming tournaments in Asia to have minor back surgery.
The Wimbledon champion was scheduled to play in Thailand next week, then in
Tokyo and at the Shanghai Masters. Murray was runner-up to Novak Djokovic at
the 2012 Shanghai Masters; he reached the Tokyo semifinals last year.
The Daily Mail’s Mike Dickson tweeted that the British No. 1 might miss the
rest of the season:
Murray, who pulled out of Roland Garros in May with a back injury, has been
suffering from back problems for the past few years.
The Scot, who swept two singles matches and partnered with Colin Fleming to
win doubles in Great Britain's Davis Cup victory over Croatia last weekend,
has not won a tournament since Wimbledon. The 2012 U.S. Open champion lost to
Stanislas Wawrinka in the U.S. Open quarterfinals earlier this month.
The British tennis journalist Simon Cambers, who follows Murray closely,
tweeted that the world No. 3 hopes to be fit for the Australian Open:
Murray要動背部小手術,今年應報銷,明年澳網應該沒問題。
