Melo: No need to use buddies' playoff success as motivation

LOS ANGELES -- For the fourth straight season, New York Knicks forward Carmelo
Anthony will likely be watching the playoffs from home.

During that stretch, Anthony has watched his good friends LeBron James and Chr
is Paul make the playoffs each season -- and in James' case, win a championshi
p. Another buddy, Dwyane Wade, has been to the playoffs twice since Melo last
played in the postseason.

When asked if his peer group's achievements make him feel like he's missing ou
t, Anthony said he doesn't need to compare himself to his pals to yearn for pl
ayoff competition.

"No, not even that," Anthony said at shootaround Monday, ahead of the Knicks'
matchup with Paul and the Los Angeles Clippers. "Not even because of that poin
t that you just made. I think it's more for kind of just me, and the competito
r that I am, the person that I am. I want to be there. I don't have to look at
someone else's situation and say, 'Oh, I miss that, or I want that, or I need
that.'"

The Knicks are 27-42 and 6? games out of the No. 8 seed in the Eastern Confere
nce, essentially eliminating them from the postseason this late in the season.
Anthony, 32, says he has been forced to reflect on his future with the Knicks
, including whether he can ever win in New York.

"Honestly, I think about it a lot," Anthony said. "I try to put everything int
o perspective. I think about it all. I think about here. I think about the pos
tseason. I think about my teammates. I just think about everything. It's not j
ust one specific thing that I think about. I think about it a lot. I try to pu
t everything into perspective.

"I try to hear other people's advice, other people's take on it. But at the en
d of the day, it's on me."

Given that Anthony has lived in Los Angeles in the offseason for seven years a
nd reportedly was mentioned in trade talks with the Clippers before this seaso
n's deadline, he was asked if he has ever seriously considered playing for eit
her Clippers or Lakers.


"No, no. I haven't thought about it," Anthony said. "I mean, there was an oppo
rtunity during the deadline, and there was always talk over the past couple se
asons with me somehow being connected to the Clippers or Lakers.

"At first it was the Lakers, and then now it's the Clippers situation. So I tr
y not to think about that, especially now when I'm still playing with the New
York Knicks. I've got to go out there and prepare to play against these guys a
nd other teams."

By sheer coincidence, the NBA's schedule-makers put the Knicks and James' Clev
eland Cavaliers in Los Angeles during the same weekend. But Anthony said he, J
ames and Paul weren't able to find time to get together.

"No. Unfortunately, no," Anthony said. "We didn't get a chance to meet up and
talk like we wanted, to talk about the weather. We play tonight and we leave t
onight. Nah, we didn't get a chance. Everybody's schedule is kind of hectic. E
ven though everybody is here, it's a little bit hectic."



連續四個賽季，紐約尼克隊的前鋒Carmelo Anthony很可能又只能坐在家裡看季後賽。

曾，因為那些我也做到過，我想我就是這樣，我是個競爭者，這就是我，我想要到那種高
度，
我不想因為看到別人有什麼成就然後就說：喔!我錯過那機會了，或我想要那個，我需要
那個"




本季紐約尼克27勝42敗，離東區第八名有6.5場的勝差，基本上他們早已被排除在季後賽
的討論之外。已經32歲了Melo表示，他也曾思考過他和尼克隊的未來，甚至包括能否在這
裡奪冠。




"老實說，關於這些我想了很多"安東尼表示，。"我試著將眼光放遠一些，去思考所有事
情，我思考過關於這裡，我思考過季後賽，我思考過我的隊友，我思考一切我能思考的，
而不是只專注於某一個問題上，而這些也都思考了很多，我想看的更遠些。




"我曾試著聽從別人的建議，別人幫我做的決定，但到了最後，一切還是取就於我自己"




有消息Melo在季外都會住在洛杉磯，且已長達七年之久，所以在交易截止日前也有提到他
交易至洛杉磯快艇隊的乳摸，我們也問到他是否曾認真的考慮過為快艇隊或湖人隊效力？




"不，我從來不曾想過這些，"Melo說，我的意思是，那些事情在交易截止日前都有可能發
生，且這在之前的好幾個賽季人們也總是用各種方式把我和這兩隊連結在一起。




"一開始是湖人，現在話題又慢慢轉移到了快艇隊上，所以我都試著不去思考這些，特別
是現在我還在為紐約尼克隊打球，我需要準備好然後上場面對這些對手和球隊。"




很巧合的是，NBA在同個週末把尼克隊和姆斯的騎士隊的比賽都安排在了洛杉磯，但Melo
表示，他和LBJ和CP3都不會找時間出來聚一聚。




"不，很可惜，但不會"Melo說："我們並沒有機會約出來並暢聊一番，像聊聊天氣，我們
就在這裡打完比賽然後就離開了，所以就是沒辦法，大家的行程都很滿，儘管我們都在
這裡，但還是有自己該忙的事。
