LEE WANTS TO REMAIN KNICK, LOOKS FORWARD TO DRAFT - 紐約尼克 New York Knicks

June 24, 2007 -- Not only is forward David Lee the most popular player with
Knicks fans but also with NBA general managers. With Isiah Thomas looking to
make a big move this offseason (Rashard Lewis, Kobe Bryant, Kevin Garnett,
Jermaine O’Neal), Lee’s name has come up in trade talks.

And Lee’s not thrilled about the prospect of being traded. “I think Isiah
is happy what I did last year,” Lee told The Post yesterday. “The Knicks
want me on their team. I’ve heard some rumors with the Kobe situation and
Jermaine. Those are great players. Everyone would love to have them in New
York as well. Whether I’m happy with it or not, I can’t do anything about
it. I love playing for the Knicks and wouldn’t want to play anywhere else,
but this is a business.”

Lee was a candidate for Sixth Man of the Year before missing 23 of the last
26 games with a mysterious leg injury. Lee still isn’t 100 percent but hasn’
t tested it fully in 5-on-5. If the Knicks stand pat, the big issue entering
training camp Oct. 1 is whether Thomas starts Lee, their best rebounder and
grittiest player.

Lee spoke yesterday via phone from the Player’s Association Top 100 High
School Camp at Virginia in which he was an assistant coach and guest
lecturer.

“Off the bench or starting, whatever that may be, I did OK in both roles,”
said Lee, who will appear tomorrow at the Knicks’ summer kids camp at
Broolyn’s aviator. “Whatever Isiah sees me. I just want to play as many
minutes as possible. Whether he sees me starting or coming off the bench, it’
s up to him.”

In Thursday’s draft, the Knicks select 23rd and Lee believes Isiah Thomas
might gamble on a player not ready to help immediately.

“We have such depth at every position,” Lee said. “A lot of veteran guys
tied down with contracts. We have a great team coming back. [If] we stay
injury-free, we can do special things. I can see us taking a guy who can help
us further down the listen because we have many weapons coming back.”
