INDIAN WELLS: The 2nd Oasis

Justine departed this Sunday morning for Indian Wells, California to
participate in the Pacific Life Open, a Tier I that's a combined men's and
women's hardcourt tournament. She was the winner back in 2004, but due to
injury last year wasn't able to defend her title. Justine will #3 on Monday's
new WTA rankings, and with the absence of Kim Clijsters, and Amélie
Mauresmo, she'll also have the honour of being the #1 seed at this year's
event.

After her victory last week in Dubai, Justine will surely have a vital say in
this year's outcome along with top three seeded rivals Southern California
favorite Lindsay Davenport, pin-up Maria Sharapova, and the season's first
Tier 1 winner Elena Dementieva.Completely over her stomach problem, Justine
found a bit of form in Dubai, and trained this week. In order to mend her
shoulder, and to not over work it, she reduced her session. A pain to her
knees, which appears sometimes when too rigorous, also cut the sprinting
training, but Justine is dealing with everything to prevent, and preserve her
herself for longevity.

Justine departed for Indian Wells with coach Carlos Rodriguez on Sunday
morning, and she'll receive a bye for round one. Her first match should be
scheduled for Friday or Saturday. The Belgian champion, and world's greatest
1-handed backhander will have the neccessary time to adjust with timezone
changes, weather changes, and reacquaint herself with the California
hardcourts during practice sessions this week.

The draw will be made on Monday Afernoon March 6, 2006. Round one matches
begin on Wednesday March 8, 2006.
