GREECE

Tzorvas - 7.5 - The shot stopper was kept busy throughout the game and made
some excellent saves. Denied Aguero, Maxi Rodriguez and Messi in the first
half and went on to impress after the break. Not at fault for any of the two
goals.

Vyntra - 7 - He put in his strongest performance of the 2010 World Cup. Made
a superb block on Aguero's shot before the break to prevent the Atletico man
from scoring and looked solid overall.

Moras - 6 - Struggled at times against the pacey Aguero, but will be glad
that Maradona's son-in-law didn't find the net. Caught napping for
Argentina's second goal of the match.

Papadopoulos - 6.5 - Another solid performer at the back. Kept Milito at bay
throughout the match and will be quite satisfied with his performance on the
evening.

Kyrgiakos - 7 - An absolute rock at the centre of Greece's defence. Hardly
lost any challenges and was the true leader of the Europeans. Unlucky to be
on the losing side after a performance like this.

Torosidis - 6.5 - Hardly troubled by Maxi Rodriguez, even though he lost
track of the Liverpool winger minutes before the break. Didn't really get
involved in possession and was hooked after the interval.

Sokratis - 7 - The holding midfielder focused on shadowing Argentina star
Messi and did a great job to keep the gifted forward relatively quiet. His
legs tired toward the end of the game, as he lost Messi twice.

Tziolis - 6.5 - Like Sokratis, his task was to break up the Argentinians'
play. Did a reasonable good job, but allowed Veron a bit too much space on
occasions.

Karagounis - 6 - The experienced midfielder was one of the few players to add
some creativity to Greece's game. Gave some good long passes in the first
half, but was mysteriously withdrawn at the break.

Katsouranis - 6 - Was unable to make an impact on the game, as the
Argentinian midfielders proved to be too good for him. Replaced by Ninis in
the second half.

Samaras - 7- The Celtic star will without a doubt know what rapper Akon was
talking about when he recorded 'Lonely'. Samaras never stopped running though
and caused the Argentina defence some problems with his positive attitude.

Substitutes:

Spiropoulos - 5 - Largely anonymous in the 45 minutes he spent on the pitch,
as he couldn't add any creativity to Greece's midfield.

Ninis - 5 - The Greek wonderkid failed to live up to the expectations and
couldn't add anything to Greece's game. Tripped over the ball on two or three
occasions.

Patsatzoglou - 6 - Came off the bench around the hour mark, but was unable to
deny Argentina's attack in the 30 minutes he got.




ARGENTINA

Romero - 6.5 - Hardly called into action, but didn't make any mistakes
whenever his services were needed.

Otamendi - 6.5 - Looked solid at the back on the few times he was tested.
Didn't really get involved in his side's attacking play though.

Demichelis - 6 - Presented with the task to guard Greece's only attacking
threat, but struggled to keep the lonely Samaras at bay. Would have gotten a
lower mark had he not opened the scoring.

Burdisso - 6 - Formed a defensive partnership with Demichelis and was hardly
troubled. Made a good block on Samaras after the Celtic man went past his
partner at the back minutes after the break.

C. Rodriguez - 7- Replaced Heinze at left back and was his side's best
defender on the evening. Sent in a dangerous cross around the hour mark
before almost finding the net with a low shot.

M. Rodriguez - 6 - The Liverpool winger struggling to leave his mark on the
game down the right wing. Hardly got past his opponent, but still came close
to adding his name to the score sheet minutes before the break.

Bolatti - 6.5 - Got the chance to prove his worth as a result of Mascherano's
absence and looked good in midfield. Made some good interceptions and almost
scored after a corner kick. Booked in the second half.

Veron - 7 - The veteran playmaker was his side's best performer in the first
half. Showed some excellent passing skills and unleashed one powerful long
range strike. Faded after the break.

Messi - 7 - Messi had all kinds of problem to shake off his marker(s) on the
evening. The Greek defenders were determined to keen a close eye on the
Barcelona star and were successful until the 85th minute. Hit the upright
before being involved in his side's second goal.

Aguero - 6.5 - Was Argentina's main attacking threat and cause the Greek
defence some serious problems. Could have scored the opener after 18 minutes,
but was denied by the brilliant Tzorvas.

Milito - 4.5 - The Champions League hero was confronted with three defenders
in the centre of the pitch, but did absolutely nothing to try and unlock the
Greece defence. Deservedly hooked in the second half.

Palermo - N/A Found the net when he tapped home a rebound from inside the
area.
