NETHERLANDS

Stekelenburg – 7 - The goalkeeper made a number of good saves throughout the
match and was once again very reliable. His save on Makoun's shot in the
second half was especially superb. Not at fault for Cameroon's goal.

Boulahrouz – 6.5 - Replaced Van der Wiel at right-back and did so in
impressive fashion. Never troubled in his defensive duties and went forward
whenever possible. Lack of match rhythm never showed.

Mathijsen – 6 - Not his best performance at this World Cup. Looked
vulnerable against Eto'o on occasions and allowed the Cameroonian attackers
too much space throughout the match.

Heitinga – 7 – He fought some exciting battles with Eto'o and
Choupo-Moting. The centre-back was never afraid to put his feet in and was
willing to battle for every ball. His side's best defender on the evening.

Van Bronckhorst – 6 - The experienced defender struggled at times on the
left wing. Allowed Geremi too much space to send in some dangerous crosses.
Needs to up his game in the knock-out phase.

De Jong – 6.5 - The Manchester City man made some good interceptions and
provided his back four with good cover. Not as important for Oranje as in
their previous two games, but still a satisfactory performance.

Van Bommel - 7.5 - He has been Netherlands' best performer in South Africa so
far and the holding midfielder enjoyed another great game. Outstanding
passing and Oranje's true leader on the evening.

Kuyt – 6 – The Liverpool man was largely anonymous throughout the match. He
always worked hard, but he lacked the cutting edge to create something.

Sneijder – 7 - The Inter man is slowly nearing his best form and sent in
some dangerous crosses from set pieces. His pass with the outer side of his
right foot that eventually led to the winner was pure genius.

Van der Vaart – 7 - The tricky midfielder was again played out of position
on the left wing, but put in a rather strong performance. Made some good
defensive actions and showed flashes of brilliance up front, too. Great
assist for the opener.

Van Persie – 7.5 - The Arsenal striker finally lived up to expectations.
Caused the Cameroon defence all kinds of trouble with his good runs and
superb first touches. Rewarded for his good performance with a goal.

Substitutes

Huntelaar - 7 - Typical striker's finish to give his side a 2-1 win.
Huntelaar's predatory instincts always add something to Oranje and so was the
case today.

Elia – 6 - Didn't make the impact many were so desperately hoping for, but
looked lively on the ball.

Robben - 7 - Finally made his first minutes at this World Cup and helped set
up Huntelaar's goal.




CAMEROON

Hamidou: 7 - Looked uncomfortable claiming crosses in his own area. No chance
on any of the goals. Made a great save on Van Persie to keep his side in the
game but it was just not to be tonight.
Assou-Ekotto: 7 - He hugely improved on his performance against Denmark and
looked very solid at the back. Never really troubled by Kuyt and went forward
several times.

Chedjou: 7 - The Lille star was one of his side's best performers on the
evening. Made some impressive runs through the centre of the pitch and was
strong in the personal duels.

N’Koulou: 6 - Had problems dealing with Van Persie and was fortunate that
the Arsenal striker found the net only once. Hooked for former skipper
Rigobert Song in the second half.

Mbia: 6 - The Marseille man was tipped by many pundits to be one of the
breakout stars of the tournament but looked clumsy on occasions. Lost sight
of Van der Vaart on several occasions and was lucky not to be penalised for a
foul in his own area.

Geremi: 6.5 - The veteran's best days are surely behind him, but Geremi still
put in an encouraging performance. Send in some dangerous crosses from the
right and troubled his direct opponent with his dribbles.

Makoun: 6.5 – The Lyon star was in good form in midfield and made some great
runs off the ball. Should have scored at the hour mark, but was unable to
beat Stekelenburg.

Bong: 6 - The defender cum midfielder was handed the task of keeping Sneijder
at bay and did a good job overall. A bit disappointing in possession though.
Was already substituted when Sneijder played a big role for the second Dutch
goal.

N'Guemo: 6.5 - The Celtic star was his side's main attacking threat from
midfield and looked very dangerous. Came close to levelling the score with a
placed shot at the hour mark.

Choupo-Moting: 5 - The youngster looked out of his depth for the majority of
the game and was only able to trouble the Dutch defence occasionally.
Deservedly hooked after the interval.

Eto’o: 7 - The treble winner was again handed the central role he was
clamouring for and he always looked dangerous. His dribble past three
defenders in the second half showcased his class. Capped a good performance
with a calm finish from the spot.

Substitutes:

Abubakar: 7 - The youngster looked impressive after coming off the bench and
set up Makoun with a brilliant through pass.
