Chien-ming Wang to begin 2014 baseball season in Minor Leagues

Taipei, March 21 (CNA) Taiwanese right-handed pitcher Chien-ming Wang will
have to wait for his chance to rejoin the major leagues as he starts the new
baseball season with the Cincinnati Reds in the minors.

在台北時間3月21日，來自台灣的右投手王建民，必須在新的球季，
從辛辛那提紅人隊小聯盟開始出發，等待機會重回大聯盟。

Wang signed a minor league contract with the Reds last December and was
invited to MLB spring training in Arizona with the first team, but the Reds
have decided to start him in the minor leagues first, according to foreign
wire service reports.

In addition to Wang, two other pitchers and one fielder for the Reds are
being sent to the minors.

Wang pitched in three pre-season games as a reliever, allowing four runs
(three earned) and 10 hits over 7 innings. He ended up with an ERA of 3.86.

Wang made his most recent outing on March 17, when he pitched two scoreless
innings against the Oakland Athletics, during which he used his signature
sinkers to induce five groundouts.

That was not enough to earn him a place on the Reds team that will start the

has had his best seasons so far in 2006 and 2007, when he racked up 19 wins
