My understanding on Chelsea's new sporting director is talks with
Salzburg's sporting director Christoph Freund are already pretty advanced.
Todd Boehly is a big fan of the Red Bull model. He's currently ahead of
Monaco's Paul Mitchell, who really wants the job, too.

Luis Campos is an option, and is technically freelance, but protection
clauses in his PSG contract make a move tough unless he buys out the
remainder of his Parc des Princes contract.

I am told at this stage Freund is very much leading the race, which adds a
little spice to Wednesday's UCL game. Graham Potter's input is still key

Chelsea are in advanced talks with RB Salzburg's Christoph Freund to
become sporting director. Boehly admired RB model: “We've talked about
having a multi-club model. Red Bull have Salzburg and Leipzig in the
Champions League. I want to continue building out the footprint."

ChelseaFC could look to bring both RB Salzburg's Christoph Freund and
PSG's Luis Campos to Stamford Bridge in recruitment roles. CFC new owners
understood to be in talks with Freund on sporting director job. Campos
could be in frame for advisory role as well

My personal view is that if Chelsea go ahead with Freund appointment then
they will still need someone with more experience to come in and
effectively manage Cobham. That is not a data/recruitment job

More on Chelsea's advanced talks with Salzburg's Christoph Freund, as
first revealed earlier. Todd Boehly very impressed by Red Bull model &
keen on affiliating Chelsea to feeder clubs. Conversations started with
Freund during early August when enquiring about Benjamin Sesko.

Freund is extremely data-driven, which is of particular appeal. New owners
surprised by the lack of data they inherited and feel there is no clear
structure as to how it is used.

Although Freund is not the only candidate he's currently the clear
frontrunner and very open to the role. He's also close to Paul Mitchell,
who might yet consider a technical director role under him should CFC move
in that direction.

though. But he's generally just very impressed by the vision of Chelsea's
new owners so any role, under the right dynamic, may tempt him.

Salzburg are fully aware of the approach to Freund and Graham Potter is
expected to talk to him over the coming days. Told three candidates have
active 'applications' but Freund is the current priority.
